Week 3: Classic Comics

I really love the Calvin and Hobbes comics. The drawing style is so charming and simple and the humor is cute and funny. This comic speaks to me a lot, because I was very attached to my stuffed animals as a kid (and still am funnily enough). I had a favorite stuffed animal that was a blue pegasus. I loved it like crazy, while I never pretended she was a real pegasus to the extend that Calvin does, I did give my stuffed animals they're own persona's and they're own characteristics, so this is one of my favorite comic strips to read

This comic series is a classic. I've heard of it before but never pursued reading it before. I love looking at the old style of comics, it's so different from what it is now. This particular comic volume was printed in 1940-1943! Maybe I'm just young, but that sounds so old! It's amazing the things that stand the test of time and while Flash Gordon isn't a very well-known super hero comic anymore, it is still spoken of once in a while, otherwise I would of never heard of it!

This comic is such a classic! Granted, all of these comics this week are classics and its hard to think of anything else when you read them. But, I used to watch The Peanuts all the time on TV when I was a kid, it was such a great show. I honestly wish I'd read more comics as a kid, since I love them now but was never exposed to them early. Not that my parents wouldnt buy them for me, I just never knew to look for them or had any interest in them back then, at least that I knew of. I think, if I'd been given comics as a kid I would of loved them, I already loved art in elementary school so I don't see why I wouldn't. But yeah, I loved this comic, such charming characters and fun stories. It's always a great read.

Lastly, Little Nemo in the Palace of Ice. I watched a bit Little Nemo a couple of years ago in History of Animation. I really liked the story and the world was really unique, so getting to read the original comics, was very interesting. I really enjoy the art style of this comic, though I honestly like the style of most if not all comics. They wouldn't of been as successful, if they're art style wasn't good. But this one is very unique. I love the way the artist draws body shapes, they're like one whole piece instead of different shapes and sizes and stuff. It's just- a really unique way to draw. I love the world of Slumberland as well.
